Finally! I'm back on YouTube with my first ever visit to Whitby Goth Weekend. This festival in Northern England attracts thousands of Goths of all ages who express themselves through fabulous dress and have fun in a seaside town known for its connections to Dracula himself. I'll show you my favourite things to see and do at Whitby Goth Weekend, and a few tips for getting around. Thinking about going? A few more important things i learned: Whitby Goth Weekend's website doesn't have much information beyond the dates. (I almost didn't go because I wasn't sure it was even happening. That's because they don't really programme anything.) It's a bit weird but you just have to trust it and go.There's a lot happening. But you have to talk to people to find out what/where. This facebook group was super helpful for asking questions of locals and regulars: https://www.facebook.com/groups/718912144814041 Whitby is small and accommodations book up months in advance. I stayed at the Captain's Lodge B&B which is close to the music venue and vendors and they were lovely: https://thecaptainslodge.co.uk/ Travelling solo? No problem. Everyone was super friendly and it was easy to talk to strangers. And if you've never actually dressed up like this before but always felt it in your heart, this is a very safe space to wear whatever you feel like. For me, sometimes that was simply jeans and comfy shoes. But if there's ever a place to go full Uber Goth and fit in, this is it. Safe travels!
