Follow me through the restoration process of this spectacular Gerald Genta "Grande Complications" – one of the most complicated wristwatch movements ever made, and to my knowledge, the only Grande Complications wristwatch with an automatic winding mechanism.
Beyond its technical complexities, it is undoubtedly one of the most beautifully decorated movements ever produced, stamped with the prestigious Geneva Seal – one for the movement and another for its decoration, the only one of its kind that I am aware of.
The restoration required the remaking of several parts that were worn or damaged. I was fortunate to work alongside other gifted watchmakers, who helped me recreate these parts to perfection in the Swiss mountains, where it was originally crafted.
The repair is now complete, and the owner can once again enjoy its beauty and precision. This is one of my favorite watches that I’ve had the privilege to work on.
