Hello, friends
I’m Zahid Rahman it’s an EEE campus presentation. Today I’m discuses about fixed capacitor size calculation of a PFI panel.
Transformer Capacity = 500kVA
No-load Primary Voltage (Vₒ) = 10895V
No-load Current (Iₒ)
L ₁ = 0.33A, L ₂ = 0.34A, L ₃ = 0.33A
No-load Power Factor Cosθₒ = 0.258 So, θₒ = 75.05°
Average No-load Current of L ₁, L ₂ and L ₃ = 0.3333A
So,
Iₒ = 0.3333A
So,
Primary Apparent Power @ No-load Condition…..
Sₒ = √3*Vₒ*Iₒ = √3*10895*0.3333 = 6289.6 VA
Pₒ = √3*Vₒ*Iₒ*Cosθₒ = √3*10895*0.3333*0.258
= 1622.7 W
Qₒ = √(6289.6² - 1622.7²) = 6076.6 VAR = 6.08kVAR
N.B. Since 6kVAR capacitor bank is not available so we should use a 5kVAR capacitor.
