In this video, I show the problems I encountered when planning to add insulation into my attic. First, I found an inadequate amount of insulation. Next, I noticed the soffit vents were blocked. I found a large amount of dead insects. Then I noticed the bathroom exhaust fans were vented into the attic.
I removed the bat insulation that was blocking the soffit vents, then installed rigid foam baffles to direct the airflow. Next, I installed a radiant barrier.
I installed new attic exhaust vents, along with the correct type of venting pipe, insuring they were properly set in place with the correct slope to prohibit moisture from building up within the ducting.
Finally, I blew in cellulose insulation.
