In this video, we finally tackle a problem that's been giving us trouble for years: mice in the cabin walls and ceiling! They've been chewing up our insulation and keeping us awake at night. We decided enough is enough and completely rip out the insulation from the east gable end. We cover all joints and cracks with metal mesh, replace the rock wool insulation with rigid foam insulation, and fill any gaps with spray foam. Lastly, we completely cover the wall with metal mesh before putting the boards back on. Hopefully, this will once and for all fix the problem and let us sleep peacefully!
Also, an ice storm rolled through the area and made for a beautiful walk through the woods.
Finally, one morning we were treated to the breathtaking howling from a coyote that was right next to the cabin!
