The 2025 Field Trial Quota Hunt at Babcock Webb Wildlife Management Area brought plenty of excitement and a few surprises. While working through the palmetto patches, a hog flushed at close range, adding an unexpected twist to the day. Large wild quail coveys were scattered across the uplands, presenting challenging and rewarding opportunities to test both skill and strategy.
The day wasn’t without its setbacks, but nothing that couldn’t be worked through. With the Browning and Rizzini shotguns in hand, the hunt captured the essence of Florida’s upland landscape — from its natural beauty to the unique challenges it offers. This was a memorable day of wild quail hunting that balanced the highs and lows of the experience.
