Video Not Working? Fix It Now

We are delighted to be collaborating with Sissinghurst on an evolving botanical installation this winter. Sited at the entrance gate and under Vita Sackville-West’s writing tower, the design is intended to morph and shift over four months to reflect the atmosphere and seasonal changes in the garden beyond.

January marks the third chapter of the project and has been designed to display and celebrate the wide range of plant material that the garden team carefully harvested and dried over the course of last spring, summer and autumn.

In the first archway we have created a natural, witchy structure using tall, slender and malleable branches of hazel which are trained into an organic lattice frame to which individual specimens and bunches are affixed in varying shades of yellow, from buttercream to lemon and gold. In the stone archway under Vita’s tower, a tall narrow frame has been layered with dried flowers, seedpods, grasses, shrubby foliage and leaves in soft dusky shades of grey, silver, sage, gold and rust with accents of vibrant pink and yellow.

In February, for the last phase of the project, we will evolve the design to celebrate the lengthening hours of daylight, early flowering bulbs and the promise of spring on the horizon.

We hope that you can come and view the displays in person but if timing or geography doesn’t permit then you can at least enjoy this brief virtual visit!

Thank you to @j_sutherland84 @saffronprentis @_gardening_adventures_ for all your
collaborative thinking, ideas, gathering, making and maintaining.
