Lohari Gate, also known as Lahori Gate, is one of the oldest gates within the Walled City of Lahore, Pakistan. Its name traces back to the Urdu language, where “Lohar” means blacksmith, possibly named after the skilled blacksmiths of the city.
The Lohari Market inside the gate is one of the oldest markets in South Asia, where caravans and travelers from Multan used to enter the city. The current building was rebuilt in 1864 by Sir Robert Montgomery, the then Governor of Punjab. Presently, the neighborhood surrounding Lohari Gate is famous for serving desi food and Lahori treats.
