So if you are having issues with the dreaded 5.4 3v making a knocking, ticking, rattle, etc you are faced with 2 solutions either replace the cam phasers or install a lock out kit. if you are doing this I highly suggest you replace the complete timing and do the oil pump while you are at it. odds are most likely the timing chain tensioners are blown out
