While most species in the Underdark view their environment as at best a threat that warrants extreme violence and at worst fantasize about enslaving those who dwell on the surface, a few creatures have chosen a different path. In this chapter we examine the population, culture and civilization of the Myconids, the (mostly) pacifist Fungus Folk of the Underdark, along with the Deep Gnomes, the clever and stealthy artisans of the Forgotten Realms setting of Dungeons and Dragons and Baldur's Gate 3.
