Hidden in a narrow alley just off the shopping bustle of Commercial Street, Sairam Hotel began 12 years ago when Mrs Krishnaveni and her husband, Mr. Chellappa opened a tiffin shop in place of a failed kirana business. They had “zero idea” of what it entailed to open an eatery but decided to give it their all and offer customers a taste of what they would cook at home. Soft idlis made of a homestyle ground rice batter, a crisp dosae roasted modestly but topped with a dollop of white butter, amongst other light, homely fare. I found myself here on a nippy Bengaluru evening and having made quick work of every item on their menu feel confident to state that Sairam Hotel certainly makes for a tasty tiffin stop when in the area.
I hope you enjoy this episode. Do support small businesses like these. Happy eating!
