Craig Alexander Newmark is an American internet entrepreneur best known for being the founder of the San Francisco-based international website Craigslist (craiglist.org). Craigslist is an American classified advertisements website with sections devoted to jobs, housing, personals, for sale, items wanted, services, community, gigs, résumés, and discussion forums. Craig Newmark began the service in 1995, as an email distribution list to friends in the San Francisco Bay Area. The organization is now a household name, covering 70 countries.
