Join us for the second event of our new panel series, called Unknown Knowns: Adventures in the New Economics, where we will be discussing France's current financial and political upheaval.
The situation in France is starting to look very similar to 1787. With a fiscal crisis currently generating a constitutional crisis, it is hard not to hear echoes on the old debates around the Estates General. How bad are the French finances? And what does this mean for the future of the Fifth Republic?
Swedish opinion columnist and blogger Malcom Kyeyune will be a co-panellist to broaden the perspective. His work focuses mainly on the broader political crises that now face many countries in the West at the dawn of the multipolar age.
Featured participants:
Malcolm Kyeyune, Swedish writer and commentator, UnHerd
Hugo Martin, Researcher, Danube Institute
Moderator:
Philip Pilkington, Macroeconomist and Visiting Fellow, Danube Institute
