Italian jazz pianist and singer Francesca Tandoi is celebrated by critics and peers as an up-and-coming jazz star and one of the most fascinating young talents on the international jazz scene. In just a few years, she has gained international recognition as a first-class pianist and singer. She has recorded live and in the studio with some of the best jazz musicians in the world. These include saxophone legend Scott Hamilton, with whom she recorded several albums, Daryll Hall and Michael League (Snarky Puppy).
She has toured extensively and performed at some of the most prestigious theaters, jazz festivals and clubs in the world, including the North Sea Jazz Festival, Umbria Jazz, Cork Jazz, Bösendorfer Gala, Breda Jazz Festival, Amsterdam Arena Stadium, Piano City Madrid and Sumatra Jazz Festival, Tokyo Hakuju Concert Hall, Moscow Gorkiy Park Summer Festival, Tver Philharmonic Hall, Stara Zagora Jazz Festival and many more in the USA, Japan, Indonesia, India, South Africa, Russia and all over Europe.
Piano legend Monty Alexander was downright enthusiastic about their debut album. Alexander said:
"Francesca Tandoi is an extremely tasteful swing pianist. Her singing is exquisite, her compositions melodic and memorable and her arrangements extremely well thought out."
She appears in more than 20 recordings as a sidewoman, but the piano trio is definitely her favorite line-up. As leader of her own trio, she has recorded a total of six albums.
Francesca is accompanied by two long-time musical companions from the Dutch mainstream scene:
On bass, Netherlands-based Brazilian double bassist Matheus Nicolaiewsky, who is one of the best double bassists working in Europe, and Rotterdam's exceptional drummer Sander Smeets, who studied in the USA and is currently one of the defining figures of the Dutch scene.
