This is a pincher-style hot pad that makes a beautiful addition to any kitchen. Also a great companion to both my apple oven mitt: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7lRrsD1Giw0 and my chili pepper handle cover: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zNUSwYUpnhY MATERIALS LIST (You don't need to pre-wash for this): (1) 8.5 x 11" piece nice green fabric #1 (1) 8.5 x 11" piece nice green fabric #2 (2) 8.5 x 11" muslin or other fabrics (3) 8.5 x 11" cotton batting (1) 8.5 x 11" Insul-bright 0:00 Fascinator preview - last gift project tutorial, then I'll finish the big wall hanging 0:47 FREE Pattern available now: http://www.zazusstitchart.com/free-pdfs/ 2:27 Layout instructions: 5-piece Leaf FRONT Layering (Mirrors BACK) 1) Cotton fabric - Right Side Up (RSU) 2) Cotton batting 3) Insul-bright 4) Cotton batting 5) Lining fabric - Right Side Down (RSD) FOR PLANNING STAGE - 3-piece Leaf BACK Layering (Mirrors FRONT) 1) Good cotton fabric - RSU 2) Cotton batting 3) Lining fabric - RSD 3:12 PREPARING TO STITCH - 3 Leaf BACK Layering (Mirrors FRONT) 3) Lining fabric moves to top - still RSD 1) Cotton fabric - RSU 2) Cotton batting 3:39 Draw vein with chalk and stitch 4:34 Free-motion quilt a nice meander everywhere else 4:58 Draw pocket mouth ans stitch twice with tight stitches 5:41 Trim hole at 3/16" and clip corners 6:04 Turn and press with lots of steam 6:37 Topstitch around pocket mouth with edger foot 8:06 Press hanger and edge stitch it too 8:52 Pin hanger to right side of potholder front and plan potholder shape with chalk 10:52 Stitch perimeter of potholder. You might use a clothespin to help control puckers. REMOVE PIN HOLDING HANGER WHEN YOU COME TO IT.
