In this FreeCAD Lesson we dive into non-planar attachment using different attach / map modes in FreeCAD’s Part Design workbench. We’ll explore the intricacies of attaching sketches to curved and non-flat surfaces i.e. spheres, cylinders, and more complex shapes.
* Non-Planar Surfaces: Learn what makes a surface non-planar and how to recognize them.
* Creating Sketches on Non-Planar Faces: We’ll sketch arcs, lines, and create padded solids, showing how these generate planar and non-planar faces.
* Attachment Techniques: From using attachment offsets on base planes to more advanced methods, like employing scaffolding sketches, datum planes for sketch alignment and rotation.
Stay tuned for our next lesson, where we’ll cover the hole operation, a crucial feature that allows you to create and thread holes in your designs.
This is for FreeCAD version 1 also known as 0.22, 1.0 CR.
