On March 21st 2013, defenceman Sean Day became just the fourth player in Canadian Hockey League history to be granted exceptional status in order to play in the Ontario Hockey League at 15 years old. 7 years later, Day had spent his past two seasons primarily in the ECHL and had just seen his Entry-Level contract with the New York Rangers terminated.
