On Friday, May 22, 2022, the members of the crew of the FSS Palikir, the 30 year old surveillance vessel in the FSM donated by the Australian Government went to see to greet the crew of the FSS Tosiwo Nakayama, the first of two new ships donated to replace the FSM's older vessels. FSS Palikir is scheduled to be decommissioned in early June and will make the journey to Australia to be trained on the second of the two new vessels. According to Pohnpei regulations, the crew of the FSS Tosiwo Nakayama was required to stay at anchorage for seven days after arrival. The FSS Palikir accompanied the vessel to their moorage point from a distance.
