Game Review & Impressions
---------------------------------------------------
Fairly late sprite-based bullet-hell shooter, G-Stream 2020 is very much cut from the same cloth as DoDonPachi. Pilot a futuristic fighter jet against hundreds of enemy craft, totalling some suitably behemothic bosses and earning tons of points along the way.
Although it looks and sounds great, the weapon system is the game's most interesting feature because, instead of swapping out weapons each time you collect a power-up, tokens either install additional weapons on your craft, or power up existing ones. The more tokens of the same colour you have, the more powerful that particular weapon becomes. You can choose to hybridise your weapon systems to add versatility, but specialising in a single colour is the way to unlock some truly devastating firepower. Smart bombs can be used to transform enemy bullets into score items, which can be used to earn some staggeringly high scores when deployed against projectile-spewing bosses at the right moment.
G-Stream 2020 is a solid experience and, if you enjoy shoot 'em ups, you'll almost certainly enjoy this.
