මඩු ශාන්ති කර්මයේදී දෙවියන් උදෙසා නොනිමෙන ආලෝකයක් ලබාදීම මෙමගින් අදහස් කරයි. මෙම පහන් දැල්වීම පත්තිනි හා දෙවොල් දෙවියන් ප්‍රධාන සියළුම දෙවියන් වෙනුවෙන් කරනු ලබයි. මෙහිදී ආතුරයින් හට ශාන්තියක් ලබා දෙස් කන්නලව් කරමින් පහන් දැල්වීම සිදු කරයි.

මල් යහන් දීම
මඩු ශාන්ති කර්මයට ප්‍රධාන දේවාආරාධනා කිරීම මෙහිදී සිදුවෙයි. මෙය කෝලම් මුර කිරීම ලෙසද හදුන්වනු ලබයි. මෙහිදී දෙවියන්ගේ ගුන හා බලපරාක්‍රමය ගායනා කරනු ලබයි. දෙවියන්ගේ පිහිට හා ආරක්ෂාව පැතීමේ පෙල පාලි අංගයක් ලෙසද දැක්විය හැක. දෙවියන්ගේ ඇල්ම බැල්ම ලැබීමට මල් පහන් සුවද දුම් යහන් මත තබනු ලැබේ. පැයක කාලයක් නැටුම් හා කවි ගායනා යහන් ඉදිරියේ සිදු කරනු ලබයි. බෙර වාදනයද අඛන්ඩව සිදුවේ. ශිල්පීන් දෙදෙනෙකු මාරුවෙන් මාරුවට හා එකවර කවිගායනා කිරීම හා නැටුම් ඉදිරිපත් කරයි.
එම කවි ගායනා මෙසේය,
සාර බර චන්ඩ මහ භද්‍රා කල්පයට
නෑර අටවිසි මුණි ගුණ ලැබ සතුට
නෑර මේ ආතුර වස් දොස් මුදන්නට
බාර දෙමි පහන් මුර දෙවියන්ට
උතුම් බඹ ලොව සතර විහරණ රැක නිවන් සිරි සැප පතා
ගුවන්තල වරල එර්දි බලයෙන් ඇවිද දිවනෙත් ලා ඉතා
අතින් ගෙන මල් වඩම් කුඩ කොඩි හංස වාහනයෙන් යතා
යහම්පති මහ බඹුනි අස්නට වැඩමවා සව් සිරි දෙතා
රැස්ව නොයෙකුත් සව් සතන් වෙත පිහිට කරුණා කරවතා
කොස්ව හීලය වරුන පාටින් ගරුඩ වාහනයෙන් යතා
තොස්ව කෙලි පුද බාරගන්නට වරම් ලැබ පූරුවෙ පතා
අස්නයට වැඩ විෂ්ණු දෙවියනි මෙපුද ලැබ කරුණා වෙතා
During the Chola rule in India, soldiers ordered to kill a Stag that was deserting the garden of King Seramana, but the Stag fell into the nearby king’s pond and died as he chased after him. Stag, realizing that it was the king who had caused him this calamity, died in anger at the king. Stag gave birth to a small frog in the same pond.
One day when the king went to the pond, he broke a beautiful flower that was in bloom and smelled it. In an instant the frog that had been hiding under the flower crawled into the brain along the King’s nose. No matter how much the king was treated for his headache, he did not recover. Sometime later, the king saw a beautiful woman in a dream.
The priests told the Brahmins that their idea was that the goddess Pattini had appeared in a dream and that the king had a curse on her. Therefore, one should go to a country where Buddhism is established and give thanks to the goddess Pattini. Deciding that the most suitable country for this was Ceylon, the king came to the island from Wattala and went to Kelaniya to worship the Buddha and done the first ‘Devol Maduwa’ at Ruwanwella. Legend has it that the king’s headache has been gone since then.
ගමට රටට සියළු ජනතාවට සෙත් පතා අගනුවර පුදබිම හුණුපිටිය ගංගාරාම විහාරස්ථානය පරිශ්‍රයේ සිදු කරන මහා ගම්මඩු ශාන්තිකර්මය "ගම්මඩුව"දේව පූජාව මාර්තු මස 30 වන දා සවස 06 සිට පසුවදා පහන් වනතුරු පැවැත්විය.
