A garden is a wonderful place for children to learn, play and grow. Today I gave my grandchildren a bucket of dirt, seeds, shovels and the freedom to do what ever they want in the garden. Which would include getting VERY DIRTY and having LOTS of FUN!
Research shows that Gardening helps kids develop an appreciation for nature and how to care for plants. Gardening also provides an opportunity for children to develop their sense of touch and feel, curiosity, and exploration.
Playing in the dirt is good for our mental health and well-being. This is due to a bacteria found in soil, which stimulates the body's production of serotonin, a chemical that can reduce stress, improve cognitive function, and enhance concentration. Also the microorganisms found in soil can help strengthen our immune system and potentially reduce the risk of allergies and asthma by exposing them to a diverse range of bacteria, which helps their body develop resilience against various illnesses. These are facts support what Iโve always said. GOD MADE DIRT AND DIRT DONT HURT!!! ๐
