Gaz8 The Five Shires was the eighth in a series of official TSR Gazetteers, written by Ed Greenwood and published in 1988. It was the third gazetteer to be centred demihumans, this one specifically being for the Halflings of the Known World, who call themselves the Hin. The cover art was by Clyde Caldwell. The Gazetteers are set in the Known World, a collection of nations on a continent that first appeared in the X1 The Isle of Dread adventure module, becoming the official setting for BECMI Dungeons and Dragons, which later became known as Mystara from about 1994.
