Geologic history of the Pacific Northwest!
This is the last in a series of 4 videos, each one set up as a virtual field trip through the various rocks and landscapes of the Pacific Northwest- working through its past billion years of geologic history!
One fun thing about Geology is that the more recent a major event was, the chances of there being more evidence of that event preserved are much higher! There are so many geologic events that have shaped the Pacific Northwest in the past 2 million years with evidence all over the place, it's hard to narrow down which ones to talk about in a virtual field trip. Here, we'll check out the modern Cascade volcanoes; evidence for widespread glaciation and massive glacial floods; and giant subduction zone earthquakes.

Thanks for watching!

I originally made these videos for a 100-level "Intro to Pacific Northwest Geology" course I taught mid-Covid pandemic as a series of short virtual field trip assignments.
