fight or flight when seeing the common app site now dear lord
seriously though, this was the first video I had in mind when creating this channel. it's been a long long time in the works and now that it's finally done, I had second thoughts about posting initially. I'm not particularly fond of showing my vulnerabilities that easily, as I doubt anyone is, and sharing to where it's accessible to literally everyone on this platform is more than a bit scary.
but I have also wanted to get this experience off my chest for a long time. uni applications weighed down on me so much during the process, and in the months after finding out the results as well. I felt like a total disappointment - to my family, to all who have supported me and my academic career, and to myself most of all.
first, thinking on it, I definitely didn't put enough work and preparation into my application and into myself as I could have during that time. I am absolutely at fault here, but I choose not to blame myself too harshly for that. circumstances I faced then aligned to make high school tough in many ways, though sometimes that happens - that's life, and the only thing I can do is learn from it and move forwards.
which is why I'm making this video - I'm letting go of the negative feelings surrounding this event. this is a thing that happened, and it's been a year, and I'm learning from it and moving on!
and for you too; if you're in the same or similar situation, I feel ya.
really, I do.
you're thinking and going through a lot, - but let me just tell you - life will move on. there are so many other bright, good things to see and explore. college is just college, and there's so much more beyond that.
this was literally *almost* the worst case scenario for me a year ago, and it happened, and I'm still living life and exploring so much! I am thankful for this experience though, and for all that it's taught me.
I hope you can get something from this video too, and as always,
thanks for being here :)
