Our January 17, 2024 BVAS Monthly Program was "Getting to Know the Common Birds of San Diego’s North County" by Barbara Swanson. Exploring the avian world in your garden or neighborhood can be a source of endless wonder and delight. Each bird, with its unique song and behavior, offers a captivating glimpse into the natural world, reminding us of the beauty and biodiversity that can flourish right in our own backyards. Many bird species have acclimated to life alongside us, granting us a window into their world. In this presentation, we will highlight more than 20 common local bird species, offering identification tips, insights into their preferred habitats and diets, and tips on attracting some to your yard. Our aim is to share the awe and delight these feathered companions can bring to anyone who takes a moment to observe. Barbara has always loved birds and backyard bird watching and became more serious about birding during the pandemic. She enjoys photographing nature, gardening, and creating wildlife habitats. She is past president of the North County Photographic Society, is currently a board member of the Buena Vista Audubon Society, and also leads a monthly bird walk. Join us to discover the local birds you may see in your yard, around your neighborhood, or in your local park. Please feel free to subscribe to our channel! Buena Vista Audubon Society bvaudubon.org
