The North Carolina Department of Labor is making final inspections this week at Ghost Town in the Sky in Maggie Valley. Monday, inspectors examined the chair lift and later this week they plan on looking at the kiddie rides at the top of the mountain. Owner Alaska Presley re-opened the park for the first time in years, last summer, and faced safety, water, and vandalism issues. But this year, she says Ghost Town is in good shape. "It's been a long hard road. And it's been a lot of unnecessary things. But by and large I feel like I've got by good," says Presley. As far as opening Friday, the labor department is taking a wait-and-see approach. "Time will tell. I can't say for sure because as soon as I say yay or nay, then I'm getting in trouble," says Labor Inspector, Tommy Petty. Presley remains confident and says Ghost Town will be open Friday through Monday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. By: Rex Hodge Follow Rex on Twitter @RexHodgeWLOS _______________ Follow WLOS on social media: WLOS ABC 13 News on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/News13/ WLOS ABC 13 News on Twitter: https://twitter.com/WLOS_13 WLOS ABC 13 News on Instagram: https://instagram.com/wlos_13 Subscribe to WLOS on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/ABC13Channel/?sub_confirmation=1 Listen to AnchorMOMS, the Podcast: https://wlos.com/news/anchormoms/anchormoms-the-podcast Watch more top local news stories: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kk8Ge6UXHJs&list=PLkVbaoT-aYbIvnEpR0Ct5QQQqYaORUSUH For all of the day’s top local and national news, visit http://www.wlos.com Watch our live newscasts and other live video at https://wlos.com/watch Have a news tip?
