Rail and Sail is a partnership between Scotrail and CalMac which makes it super easy (and affordable) to get from the heart of Glasgow to the solitude and beauty of the Scottish Islands - join me today on a trip 'soon the watter' following in the footsteps of holidaymakers from yesteryear as I head to the biggest of the Firth of Clyde islands. And what a place it is! Please note this isn't a review of the Isle of Arran (I was only there for a couple of hours) but it certainly gives a glimpse of its beauty and shows how easy it is to escape the city and find yourself in a different world! My travel details: Ticket bought through Scotrail website a day in advance £17.30 for: Glasgow Central - Ardrossan 11.15 - 12.00 (Scotrail) Ardrossan - Brodick 12.30 - 13.25 (CalMac) Brodick - Ardrossan 16.40 - 17.35 (CalMac) Ardrossan - Glasgow Central 18.00 - 18.44 (Scotrail) Date of travel: Sunday 21st November 2021. If you have any questions about my journeys or travel advice in general, please drop me a comment - I do read every single one. I’d also love to hear any recommendations you may have for future content, or why not challenge me to try something a little out of the ordinary! If you are looking to collaborate on any type of project, I’d love to hear from you - email me your ideas and hopefully we can work together in the future.
