I will be hosting my very first Netflix Show, called Blown Away which comes out this summer! It’s a competition reality show where 10 glass artist compete for a grand prize with one being eliminated each week! (Release Date: July 12th) Blown Away Official Site: https://www.netflix.com/title/80215147 This experience got me really stoked on glass and glass science so I went to the Corning Museum of Glass (which played a big part in the show) to do some science experiments with Glass and while I was there they showed me this really cool experiment with Jolly Ranchers. In this experiment we’re going to see if we can use heat up Jolly Ranchers like glass and literally blow a bubble out of a Jolly Rancher! Now what’s interesting that this kind of rock candy is actually considered a glass. Glass is any non crystalline transparent solid and because In Jolly Ranchers the corn syrup is used to prevent the sugar from crystallizing, thus making it a non-crystalline transparent solid (sugar glass).
