This video is preparing my Ceramics students to glaze their pieces at the end of the semester.
In this video, I glaze 28 wheel thrown bowls. We use stoneware glazes (cone 5 and 6 midfire) on our Standard 153 stoneware, a nice midrange firing stoneware. I used Coyote brand cone 6 glazes and underglazes in the carved design grooves on a few bowls to keep the stoneware glazes separate when they fire. I now use Standard 125 which is a lovely cone 6 stoneware that looks the same as the 153~
Here is a link to the follow up video showing the final glaze results!! Here is a link to a Googleslide presentation (in pdf form) which shows the results- also viewable in the next video! https://drive.google.com/file/d/1MXUlRx5c7e-Dgv4UJyGem_5v9X4lOdvW/view?usp=sharing
If you would like to go directly to a technique, here is a list with timestamps of when those techniques appear in the video. Also, check the PART 2 video for the final results too: https://youtu.be/w1KXXg9KVlg

I am a public high school ceramics teacher at William Mason High School in Mason, Ohio. (Mason is currently the largest high school in Ohio!) As a potter, I have been working in clay for over 30 years, and I have been teaching for over 28 years, the past 20 have been specifically teaching high school ceramics. I love what I do! I have my own studio in my home basement, where I work on my personal pottery for my Etsy site; https://www.etsy.com/shop/KaransPotsAndGlass
I started my Youtube channel a few years ago, to make videos to help my students if they are absent and miss a demo, or if they would like to explore more advanced techniques independently. I have been amazed to reach such a wider audience than my own students!
Please subscribe to my channel if you would like to receive channel updates, or would like to learn more about clay and studio processes!
