The original 8 1940-50s European made sleeping cars were added to Koyo Paradise, a multi-purpose recreational complex located in southern Lake Biwa that had opened in 1966, in 1978. At the center of this facility was the Koyo Hotel that had opened in 1946. Although described as dining and sleeping cars, they never served that purpose and were primarily for display featuring original items from the time the carriages were in use. Koyo Paradise closed in 1991 and was renamed Biwako Paradise. The carriages were perhaps removed at this time. The hotel managed to remain opened, going through different renovations and names, until 2013. Two of the wagons were relocated to a kart circuit in Nara Prefecture opened between the late 1980s or early 1990s and closed in 2001. They were used as a reception and storage for the circuit. After the circuit’s closure the cars were cut in half and moved to the back of the circuit where they still survived hidden in thick vegetation and holding four of the racing karts used in the circuit.
