Chana Doce/Doce de Grão is traditional Goan sweet made during Christmas, weddings, feasts and other festive occasions. It has a fudge like texture and is made of 3 simple ingredients i.e. chana dal/split Bengal gram, coconut & sugar and flavoured by cardamom/elaichi powder. Do try this recipe this festive season.
Ingredients:
300 g (approx. 1 & 1/3 cup) chana dal/split Bengal gram
350 g grated/scraped coconut (approx. 2 & 1/3 cup/2 big coconuts - only white part)
500 g sugar
1 tsp elaichi/cardamom powder
1 tbsp ghee/clarified butter
1/4 tsp salt
