Large gold nuggets using metal detectors, I've seen a few unearthed in my time prospecting, even uncovered a couple of rippers myself. So why have I been neglecting my metal detectors? It's time to blow off the dust and start the search for large gold nuggets using these detectors.
I'm currently on day two of an exciting prospecting trip deep within the myrtles forests of one of Tasmania's remote rivers. On day one I secured some nice nuggets using my metal detector the gold monster 1000 to target the non ferrous targets amongst the rivers bedrock.
While camped up during the night heavy rains set in.
Rivers like these can turn into raging torrents of water lifting in just a few hours putting me at risk of being stranded for days.
It's day two now and I'm about to see whether I can continue the search for gold or weather I'll need to quickly pack up camp and escape to higher ground.
Is the gold worth the risk? Lets find out shall we?
