The 2022 Toyota GR86 and Subaru BRZ come with an augmented engine noise via a new "active sound controller" device and dedicated speaker. Pre-recorded engine noise and revving get pumped into the cabin to create a louder and more sporty engine note. But, is it actually better than the real, raw engine noise from the 2.4L boxer engine? In this video I show you how to disable the active sound controller, or fake engine noise, and hear the true 2.4L engine note. Back to back comparisons of the engine noise will give you an idea of each sound.
