Hello Flower Friends! I'm Ellen. Sign up for my FREE weekly newsletter (https://www.ellenfrost.com/join-now) for more flower fun! I write flower profiles, chronicle my flower adventures and share flower stories. In this video I show you how to glow up your grocery store flowers into a pro-style arrangement. The first thing I do in the flower section of the grocery store is to look for locally grown options. Many stores will promote local products. Next look for quality. Make sure there is no damage to the flowers. Also, buy young blooms. Don't pick any flowers that are blown open - look for flowers that are closed. They will open later in the vase. In terms of design, choose bunches of a single variety rather than a mixed bunch. That will give you better control what is in your arrangement. Try to find as many of the six elements (foliage, filler, line, focal, secondary and bits and pieces) as you can. For this arrangement I found some foliage/line flower (rosemary), a focal flower (sunflower), a filler (alstroemeria) and some bits and pieces (strawflower). So cute! I also show off my new clippers, the Saboten 1210, that were a gift from Lisa Mason Ziegler of The Gardener's Workshop. You can buy these clippers from her online store.
