You live in a society where devils walk among the earth alongside humans- working for humans. Coexisting in a parasitic relationship where mortals leech off of devils work to maintain their happiness and sense of self purity. Devils work as servants to passing humans who need any task completed- and those devils rely on the humans who employ them to maintain their physical shape.
No task too great, devils are bound by words to complete any job thrown their way- at the right price.
You had never cared to learn about the tasking system, never felt like you had any reason to employ the red-eyed entities that walked beside you daily. You had no enemies you want to be wiped out, no off-putting jobs you didn't want to do, and you certainly didn't want an overpowered housekeeper…
Maybe that in itself is the reason why one decided to save you...no strings attached.
