Born in Beirut in 1960, Eli Khoury started his professional life there as an editorial cartoonist before moving to study Communication Arts in Los Angeles in 1980. In 1990, he returned to Beirut and co-founded an ad agency that became a vanguard for the industry in the region and the recipient of one of the largest number of advertising awards.
The agency joined the Saatchi & Saatchi Worldwide network in 1992, and was later acquired by the Quantum Group which he launched in 2000.
In 2010, Eli Khoury announced the agency’s partnership with M&C Saatchi Worldwide.
In 2000, he also launched Quantum Communications, a strategic communication consulting firm as part of the Quantum Group which now includes Brand Central, branding and strategic design firm; Vertical Middle East, a regional media planning and buying agency; Comtrax Solutions a reputation and media analysis firm; and Firehorse Productions, a television content company.
As a liberal democrat and a citizen and patriot of Lebanon, Eli Khoury was one of the key promoters of the 2005 Cedar Revolution which initiated the restoration of Lebanon’s sovereignty. He also publishes Beirut’s influential web portal, NOW Lebanon, the news and media-monitoring arm of New Opinion organization, and has co-published the Beirut Spring with veteran journalist Ghassan Tueni of An Nahar.
