We start with a parade of vintage tractors.
Joe then visits with a number of exhibitors who show off their vintage tractors, equipment and implements in both static and dynamic displays. You will see:
Square baler
"The Big Four" by Gas Traction Co in 1910. This plow was used to break prairie land- a large steam powered plow - it could pull 14 plow bottoms while breaking stubble and 8 bottoms while breaking sod. It is one of only 23 in the world.
A collection of International Farmall Cub tractors from the 1940-50s with a large collection of implement that could be put to this diverse plow.
A dynamic display of a belt driven conveyor and lift that takes corn from the corn wagon up and over into a corn crib.
A suite of machines (by Duncan Meader) used to make commemorative medallion/keyrings of the event. We see brass sheets pressed, imprinted and punched.
A corn sheller used to shell corn directly in the fields to wagons to go to market.
Joe interviews Paul Behrends of Paul's Windmill and Crane about his business restoring, repairing, installing fully functional windmills to various clients. Mostly those pumping water or aerating ponds.
We finish with a look a some more static antique farm equipment and a final shot of more of the antique tractor parade.
This event is held every year in late August. Visit their website for the most up to date information. http://www.halfcenturyofprogress.com
