Hammered copper coffee table made from an old heating cylinder. I had an old cylinder at home which had been removed from a house as it was leaking. Rather than just scrap it I decided to turn it into something so I came up with the idea of a coffee table!
Originally I had thought of just polishing it smooth but when I opened and cleaned it there was a seam running down and there were some kinks in the copper which i don't think would have looked great on a polished top. This is when I decided to give part of the top a textured hammered look with the seem acting as a break to the smooth section.
I think it gives a nice look having a mix of the hammered and smooth finishes.
The copper is sitting on 18mm plywood which is doubled on the edge to give it some thickness. The size of the top is 1000 mm x 550 mm.
The frame is made from the parts of an old bed from Ikea the size of which is 40 mm x 40 mm. The total height of the table is 450mm.
Thanks for reading and watching!
