Join me for a completely hand-sewn project: my 18th century shift. This was my 1st attempt at original practice, made before the stays, but people kept asking for the tutorial, so here it is 😊 Is hand-sewing and original practice my newfound one-and-only love? No. I think in the end I prefer machine stitching interior seams, and hand sewing the majority of visible seams. But this was fun and a great learning experience, and a shift is the perfect project to try it on 😉 The finished dimensions: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/367536019594127379/ How to pattern a shift: https://youtu.be/RqL7Vxd8t3E How to sew stays: https://youtu.be/krlZjZiPC0g SUPPLIES (nothing is affiliate) The linen was from my stash, but B&T offers an equivalent: https://burnleyandtrowbridge.com/collections/linen-white-naturals-neutrals/products/6605-soft-white-shirt-shift-linen 1/8" Drawstring: https://burnleyandtrowbridge.com/collections/cotton-tape-stay-cord/products/plain-weave-white-cotton-tape-sold-by-the-yard Linen Thread: https://burnleyandtrowbridge.com/collections/threads/products/60-2-linen-thread Brown Stockings: https://burnleyandtrowbridge.com/collections/stockings/products/heavy-cotton-stocking Find me elsewhere: Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/mariahpattie/ Pinterest - https://www.pinterest.com/mariahpattie/ Spoonflower shop - https://www.spoonflower.com/profiles/mariah_pattie Myfabricdesigns shop - https://www.myfabricdesigns.com/Artist/mariahpattie/Main Hair & Makeup by @marissalauren_hair on Instagram Music by epidemicsound.com
