White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt will hold a press briefing Tuesday afternoon as President Trump’s tariffs and dips in the stock market have raised concerns over the economy.
Trump on Monday refused to rule out the possibility of a recession, arguing that the U.S. is in a “period of transition.” That position comes after the president levied a series of tariffs on top trading partners, Mexico and Canada, and pledged to issue reciprocal taxes starting in April after Ontario imposed an electricity surcharge to three U.S. states.
The briefing is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. EDT.
