This video explains my techniques for building, painting, and weathering the Kinetic F-16A MLU in 1/48 scale model kit by The Inner Nerd. I begin by assembling the model kit using Tamiya, AK Interactive glues, and Mr. Hobby tools. The key to successfully building the Kinetic F-16A MLU in 1/48 scale is to carefully follow the instructions and use this tutorial as a guide. Precision during assembly ensures the parts fit accurately and align properly, which is the easiest way to speed up your build process.
To paint the Kinetic F-16A MLU in 1/48 scale, I demonstrate airbrushing techniques in detail. This video focuses on thinning paints and applying them evenly to the model surface. I use the Harder & Steenbeck Evolution Silverline airbrush along with AK Interactive Real Colors, Tamiya Acrylics, Mr. Hobby paints, and Alclad II Metal Lacquers. Thinning paint correctly is critical, so I explain how to use the proper thinners for each paint type—perfect for beginners looking to master airbrushing.
Decals are applied using Tamiya Mark Fit, which ensures even the thickest decals conform seamlessly to the Kinetic F-16A MLU in 1/48 scale model.
For weathering, I use a combination of AK Interactive weathering products, artist oil paints, AMMO washes, and pigments. I begin with enamel washes to bring out panel lines, followed by oil washes for added depth. To seal the decals, I apply a matte acrylic varnish. I also demonstrate advanced weathering techniques, such as using artist oil paints to add streaks, grime, and bleaching effects. A matte clear coat is airbrushed to create a surface suitable for weathering. Dust effects are added with pigments, creating realistic wear on the tyres, undercarriage, and landing gear.
Finally, I complete the assembly of the Kinetic F-16A MLU in 1/48 scale using super glue to attach the final small parts, including lights, to complete the build.
