Join us on a special Choo-Choo Travel adventure as we step out of Japan for the first time and visit the Hawaiian Railway Society! Located west of Honolulu, this museum can be reached via the new Japanese-made Hitachi Skyline and bus, for just $3. The Oahu Railway, which transported passengers until 1947, declined due to the rise of car culture. Today, dedicated volunteers have restored the trains, allowing many visitors to enjoy a piece of Hawaii's history. Through a special appointment made via the museum's website, we were given an exclusive tour, exploring not only the main exhibits but also maintenance areas and other restricted sections. The on-site Toy Museum featured a vast array of HO gauge trains, including Japan's KATO N gauge, all racing through intricate dioramas. Railroad memorabilia is displayed throughout, making me wish I had brought some railway-themed gifts from Japan. This museum exudes the warm hospitality of Hawaii, and I highly recommend everyone visit and experience it for themselves. I hope to return someday, participate in the 90-minute train ride, and bring some railway souvenirs to share. Opening Hours: Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday 90-Minute Ride Tour: Wednesday 1:00 PM Saturday 12:00 PM & 3:00 PM Sunday 1:00 PM & 3:00 PM Adults: $18, Children (2-12) & Seniors (62+): $13 Please note that while there is ice cream available for purchase, there are no restrooms on-site. Other facility tours are free. Parking is available, and buses #44 and #46 stop right in front. This video captures a delightful experience, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. If you notice any mistakes, please let me know in the comments. I strive to be considerate during filming, prioritizing children and avoiding capturing faces as much as possible. For those in Japan, I highly recommend this unique experience overseas. This channel covers various travels, luxury trains, sightseeing trains, and railway museums.
