It's been years since I've done quilting. The last time I did one was when my grandniece Kapolei was born. Though I'm helping my daughter try to finish the applique' on this quilt, she still has to do the echoing which will take longer haha. I remember when my mother in law Mabel AhQuin cutting the pattern, and basting it. But never got to see her quilt it. I know my father in law was determined to finish it too. So funny to see his stitches on the quilt too.
I remember the women in La'ie, Hawaii who I used to watch quilt like aunty Maleka Pukahi or Aunty Lucy Unga, these women have so much patience to do these beautiful quilts.
I can't believe none of the kids have a clear recording of my mother in law singing this song, Baby Kalai...it was so beautiful, along with her voice.
Hope you enjoy this and maybe someday you'll make yourself a quilt.
A hui hou!
Aunty Pat
