लुकमान किस लिए प्रसिद्ध है?
लुकमान पैगंबर अब्राहम के परदादा हैं, जो 500 साल जीवित रहे; वह एक बढ़ई, दर्जी, चरवाहा और न्यायाधीश था। ईश्वर ने उनसे भविष्यवाणी और ज्ञान के बीच चयन करने के लिए कहा था, लेकिन उन्होंने ज्ञान को चुना। लुकमान इतने बुद्धिमान और सम्मानित थे कि उन्हें कुरान में "वह व्यक्ति जिसे भगवान ने ज्ञान प्रदान किया था" के रूप में संदर्भित किया गया है।
मरने से पहले हकीम लुकमान ने बेटे को नसीहत दी कि सज्जनों की संगति चंदन की खुशबू होती है, दुर्जनों की संगति कोयले की बदबू होती है। इसलिए हमेशा सज्जनों की संगति में ही रहना चाहिए। सज्जन हर वक्त नेक सलाह ही देंगे। हकीम लुकमान के बारे में सर्वमान्य मानता है कि वे अफ्रीका से खरीदे गये गुलाम थे।
