Britain's Darkest Taboos tells the stories of some of the most shocking and disturbing crimes within families and relationships. On the 22nd October 2014, Darren Sykes lured his sons Jack and Paul up to the attic with the promise of a new train set, but instead he trapped his children and himself in the attic as a fire ripped through the home. Jack and Paul's mum Claire Throssell received a knock on the door to be told her sons Jack and Paul were involved in a house fire and she needed to rush by their side in hospital. In what turned out to be his dying testimony, Jack confirms his father started the fire on purpose. Claire opens up about the years of torment she and the boys suffered, the day her life changed forever and how she is campaigning for change. Our experts, psychologist Emma Kenny and former Detective Superintendent David Swindle, examine how a father could commit such an act.
