Helicopter Makes Emergency Landing on FREEWAY. It's a bird, it's a plane, it's a....helicopter?! We aren't strangers to lifting and transporting helicopters and airplanes, but super rare to get one on a live freeway. This happened on September 5, 2024, on the 110 Freeway by Century. If you're unfamiliar with the area, this is close by the famous LAX airport.
The call came in as a helicopter that made an emergency landing and was hit by a bus, so we dispatched Alex in Big Flipper, our 75ton rotator. Luckily, the real life scenario was nowhere near as bad as the description given to us. The bus incident was just a graze it seems against the propeller. No injuries either as the pilot was able to land in the Fastrak lanes and CHP got there quick to shut down lanes just in case.
Alex got to work QUICK and in no time, had this helicopter back in the air and ready for our Landoll to backup underneath. From there, it was transported to a local airport and offloaded with the rotator again. Tons of media coverage on this one so I decided to rush this video out in one day flat.
