Everyone knowns Henry VIII’s three surviving legitimate children, Queen Mary I, Queen Elizabeth I and King Edward VI. Their sibling rivalries and brief, bloody and brilliant reigns are among the most famous in history. But these three illustrious monarchs were not King Henry’s only children. He had a legitimate son with his first wife, Catherine of Aragon whose tragic death changed the course of history, an acknowledged illegitimate son whom he considered making a king and as many as 6 other children with his mistresses.
