Advertising executive William Weldon (Franchot Tone) finds his career on the brink of disaster until his resourceful wife, Margaret (Lucille Ball), steps in to save a crucial account with her quick thinking. However, domestic harmony takes a hit when William's slick boss, J.B. Cruikshank (Edward Everett Horton), offers Margaret a job of her own. The couple soon finds themselves in a high-stakes competition to craft the perfect campaign for Emil Glinka (Mikhail Rasumny), an eccentric scientist with a bizarre and unsettling new invention.
