The southern Eifel is best conquered on foot: Daniel Aßmann hikes through autumnal forests, past orchards, and in the narrow Devil's Gorge near the Luxembourg border even over the bottom of a million-year-old sea.
The film was produced before the flood disaster in 2021. All hikes and locations shown were not affected or are marked accordingly in the broadcast.
A circular hiking trail leads Daniel Aßmann to the foot of the 40 meter high basalt lava quarry Ettringer Lay near Mayen-Koblenz. In Gerolstein he drinks at a famous mineral water spring before taking the rock path into the local "Dolomites". Things get historic in Prüm and Adenau. Afterwards, small and large adventures await along the hiking trails: fly fishing with a three-star chef, a ride on mules, a visit to the last mousetrap maker in Neroth. And at the Kasselburg, Daniel Assmann gives freedom to a kestrel.
