Heres why the 47RE TRANSMISSION FAILS. In this video I go over the 2nd gen cummins 47re transmission and some of the parts inside of it that are known to cause trouble and break. This can also apply to a 3rd gens 48re transmission as they are basically the same exact transmission. I first cover the topic of 47re hydraulic line pressure, and move on to talk about the 47re governor solenoid and pressure transducer or pressure sensor. I discuss how the governor solenoid and pressure transducer work and what happens to your cummins transmission if those two parts begin to fail. Some governor solenoid failure symptoms and pressure transducer failure symptoms are taking off from a stop in 2nd gear, failure to upshift completely, or having the truck stuck in 3rd gear which is limp mode. Best thing you can for your cummins is a governor solenoid upgrade and bd pressure transducer. The GM governor solenoid is your best option. I also talk about 47re band adjustment and the importance of making sure your bands are adjusted properly. I go over how the bands work to engage the next gear and what happens when the bands are too tight or too loose and they begin to fail causing 47re transmission slip.There is also poor electrical connections from the 47re to the PCM that are affected by the cummins alternator electrical interference. One main source of interference is the main ground wire, which can be rerouted away from the cummins alternator to clear up the issue. If you experience any 47re transmission problems like these, then start small and simple and go from there to see if you can get it fixed up. SUBSCRIBE for more truck content.
